Questions

Reddit Scraper API FAQ

The short answers. The docs have the long ones.

Still have a question? Talk to the people who build the endpoints.
Is there an official Reddit API for this data?

Reddit's own Data API needs an app registration, approval for commercial use and a paid agreement at volume. Upscrape reads public Reddit pages, so you can search posts, read comments and look up communities with one API key.

Do I need a Reddit account?

No. You send a subreddit, a search or a link and get JSON back. Nothing runs on your account, and you share no password or cookie. Private communities are not part of it.

Can I search all of Reddit?

Yes. The post search covers all of Reddit, or only the communities you name, with Reddit's sort and time filters.

What data can I get from Reddit?

Posts, posts search, post, post comments, comments, subreddit, subreddits search, user posts and user comments. Each is its own endpoint with a published input schema, and the response is JSON.

How much does the Reddit API cost?

Every Reddit endpoint costs 1 credit per successful call. You buy credits once, with no subscription, and paid credits never expire. New accounts get free credits to try it.

Can an AI agent use the Reddit API?

Yes. Connect any MCP client to the Upscrape MCP server with OAuth or an API key. The agent finds the Reddit endpoint, checks its price and runs it with the same credits as the REST API.

Is it legal to scrape Reddit?

Upscrape reads public pages only and needs no login. How you use the data is yours to decide under the laws that apply to you; we sign a data processing agreement for your legal review.

What happens when Reddit changes its pages?

We fix the endpoint. Your request and the response fields stay the same.
