Questions about the MCP server
The short answers. The docs have the long ones.
Is connecting free?
Yes. Connecting, searching the catalog, checking prices, reading results and your account cost nothing. Only a call that runs and succeeds spends credits, at the price the agent saw first. New accounts start with up to 100 free credits.
Can my agent spend credits without me knowing?
Every endpoint shows its price before it runs. A call can also carry a credit limit: if the price is above it, the call does not start. A failed call costs nothing. You can also connect with read-only access, which leaves out the tools that run calls.
OAuth or an API key?
Use OAuth with apps that connect through a sign-in screen, such as Claude: you approve access once and choose what the agent may do. Use an API key with tools that take a server address and a bearer token, such as editors and command-line agents.
Which clients work?
Any client that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP. The guides above give the exact steps for each app they list, and any other client takes the server address and signs in with OAuth or an API key.
Should I use MCP or the REST API?
Both reach the same endpoints, prices and results. Use MCP when an agent decides which call to make; use REST when your code already knows. Many teams use both.
Your first call is free.
Add the server to your agent and ask for the data in plain words. Up to 100 free credits, no card.
